Background & Printpack Solution: This high-profile Cadbury product is the market leader and the brand is iconic in Europe.  Printpack was challenged to improve the characteristics that made this pack stand out on shelf, primarily the matte/gloss contrast.  We were also challenged to improve the machinability of the film by improving the heat resistance of the lacquer..

Results:
Trials were produced using various matte ink lacquers. The challenge is to maximize the matte effect but prevent the graying of the black background. The lacquer had to be robust enough to survive high jaw temperatures used on the high speed line.

Cadbury production expressed satisfaction with the machine performance of the specification.

Cadbury brand owners and marketeers were extremely happy with the finished visuals and expressed delight at Printpack’s performance.

Two Packaging Science Students Receive "Future Leaders in Packaging" Scholarship

Grace Cook (’12) and Mackenzie Lussier (’13), Clemson University students in packaging science, are co-recipients of the 2012 Future Leaders in Packaging Scholarship, sponsored by Packaging World magazine and packaging converter Printpack, Inc. The $2500 educational scholarship, which will be split between the two winners, recognizes a promising undergraduate packaging science student from Clemson. Read More
