PRINTPACK'S SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING MISSION:
To be recognized as a responsible leader in the design and development of packaging and operational processes that promote a more sustainable business proposition.
At Printpack, sustainability involves both process and product. Process initiatives include use of systems to ensure high air quality standards of plant emissions, waste reduction programs reducing our landfill disposal, materials down gauging reducing the amount of post consumer disposal, plant energy conservation efforts and others.
Printpack's strategy includes the development and use of a portfolio of renewable structures using sustainable components and maximizing opportunities for full end-of-life benefits.Also included is the identification and development of source reducing packaging systems such as retort and aseptic plastic packaging and refill systems for rigid containers.
Environmental Involvement
Printpack is committed to the safety of its associates and the community; to preservation of the environment; and to the manufacture of environmentally responsible products. Printpack will conduct its business activities in a way that promotes responsible and responsive environmental actions.
We believe this commitment is best demonstrated by:
- Complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations;
- Developing corporate policies and standards using available data when environmental concerns are discovered which are not covered by existing laws and regulations;
- Pursuing corporate initiatives to minimize environmental risks;
- Cooperating with Printpack associates, the public, applicable governmental bodies and industry to identify realistic and responsible environmental goals and to develop effective environmental programs;
- Being pro-active in the legislative arena to promote responsible and effective environmental legislation. This not only benefits the environment but also complements other worthwhile objectives such as full employment and international competitiveness.
Environmental Support Team
Printpack currently has five full time corporate level environmental professionals who are responsible for providing services in the areas of regulatory interpretation, auditing, environmental engineering, environmental data management, permitting, environmental policy development and legislative affairs. In addition, each Printpack manufacturing facility has a full time environmental coordinator who is responsible for policy compliance and oversight of regulatory environmental reporting.
