FOUR DIFFERENT MATTE FINISH TECHNOLOGIES
Flexo process printed matte OPP can be extrusion or adhesive laminated to clear, opaque white, or metallized OPP resulting in one of three distinctive matte appearances.
By using a clear secondary film, the finished lamination takes on a translucent look. The consumer can still see the product and yet the frosted appearance can hide undesirables (oil, broken pieces, etc.)
With a white opaque background, the matte-finish is optimized and the finished lamination looks more like paper than plastic. Design and colors can also make a big impact on the graphics and the white background further enhances the graphics for more shelf pop.
The matte metallized combination yields a very unique silky-satin finish. Graphics are further accentuated by the metallic appearance which is achieved by using a transparent ink over the metallized background.
With matte ink technology, packaging can incorporate a clear window, enabling consumers to see the product inside. Similarly, a registered matte coating can be used very effectively to create a matte/glossy contrast. This finish not only attracts attention, but also provides the consumer with a unique tactile experience.
