Formats designed to provide pet food brands with turnkey solutions for reducing ecological footprint
ATLANTA, March 29, 2017 — At this year’s Petfood Forum, Printpack (Booth #1312), a leader in flexible and specialty rigid packaging, will launch two flexible packaging formats that are prequalified for the How2Recylce store drop-off recycling stream.
A large format, quad-seal polyethylene bag will cater to dry pet food applications while an easy-tear, stand-up polyethylene pouch will serve the market for treats. Each package can still utilize the full spectrum of color graphics in Printpack’s expansive portfolio as well as completely protect the integrity of the product throughout its lifecycle.
How2Recycle, created by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC), aims to standardize recycling labeling in order to inform the public on how to recycle accurately, mitigating issues that lead to recyclable products ending up in landfills.
“By offering prequalified solutions, Printpack is aiming to make it as straightforward as possible for brands to meet their sustainability goals for packaging,” says David McLain, Market Development Manager, Printpack.
Printpack, as a member of SPC with McLain serving on its Executive Committee, has considerable knowledge regarding the details of the qualification process. As a result, the company can help identify solutions for more specific packaging applications as well. Printpack can then guide brands through the ensuing How2Recylce qualification process.
“In addition to our prequalified options, our experience in the qualification process affords Printpack a deep understanding of the types of formats that are good candidates for the How2Recycle store drop-off label,” says McLain.
