Meet Chris Lipham: Press Manager, Villa Rica, GA

Chris Lipham, Press Manager in our Villa Rica 2 Plant, has been making a difference at Printpack for almost 20 years. He started as a Press Assistant back in 2006 and earned several promotions until he became Press Manager last year.

Back in the day, Chris was starting his manufacturing career. Today, as an experienced Press Manager, he ensures policies and procedures are followed, makes decisions for the press department, plans and manages goals. His current position allows him to be more involved in the day-to-day operations of the business.

Let’s learn more about his career journey in his own words.

Q. Why did you join Printpack?

A. When the job opportunity at Printpack became available, I wasn’t looking to make a career change. I chose to apply at Printpack because it was a good career opportunity and a great location close to home.

Q. What do you most like about working at Printpack?

A. The challenge. My role brings new challenges, which leads to a different variety of tasks and responsibilities. And I love the culture. The people I work with and the people I work for. Everyone knows just about everyone. We come together and get the job done. A positive culture in an organization is important to feeling motivated and inspired.

Q. Aside from your hard work, what other things at Printpack aided your career path?

A. The support from my leaders and coworkers. I alwayschallenge myself to do better and take pride in my accomplishments. Also, my values align with Printpack’s core values – I am reliable, trustworthy, and accountable.

Q. What makes a successful associate at Printpack?

A. successful associate has a good work ethic, a positive attitude, is reliable, and has the desire to succeed. Any associate with these things and the desire to move up can do so.

Q. Would you recommend Printpack to other professionals?

A. Yes, Printpack is a company with great opportunities, and your leaders will help you accomplish what you set out to do. It is a great place to work and has a great company culture where everyone feels like they are part of a team.

Q. What kind of advice would you give to candidates?

A. Don’t be afraid to speak up or ask for help. Anyone here is willing to help with a situation or to work through any problems.

Q. Words of wisdom to those looking for a new opportunity.

A. You need a strong work ethic and a “want to” attitude to succeed, don’t stop trying. If you fail the first time, keep trying. Take the feedback and build on it. For example, I applied for the Press Supervisor job three times before I got it.

Q.What are your plans for the future?

A. I don’t want to stop building my career now. I want to develop and learn as a leader so I can continue and move up to production manager and maybe even plant manager. I am grateful to be a part of the Printpack team. It is a good feeling when a company has strong foundations to be built upon. Printpack has been good to me and has cared for my family, my wife Pam, and my four kids. I’ll continue building my career journey at Printpack.
