Associate Spotlight Series: Meet Abby Davis

A Printpack Associate Spotlight Series

Meet Abby Davis: HR Generalist, Jackson, TN

Abby started her Printpack journey in October 2019 as a part-time Human Resources intern in Jackson, TN.

In 2020, Abby had an exciting year: she graduated from Union University with her bachelor’s degree in business administration and management, was hired into the recently vacated full-time HR Coordinator position in Jackson, bought a home, and got married.

Throughout 2020 Abby often worked solo in the HR department as the pandemic had many leaders in the plant working from home. However, she had an HR Manager to help train and learn with, and she remained optimistic, open to change, and flexible. Her positive attitude and example of Printpack Core Values were a beacon of pleasant light during a very unsettling time.

Since joining the HR team, Abby’s title was changed to HR Generalist, and she has become well-versed in supporting hourly and salaried associates. She understands Printpack’s HR support teams and knows who to connect with to get things done, get answers to questions, or find solutions for her team. She has learned much about legal compliance, reporting, investigations, payroll, benefits, administrative necessities, and finding work/life balance.

Abby has taken ownership of all hiring efforts for Jackson’s operations and support teams and is dedicated to finding “the best candidates” for the plant. She is also instrumental in making new hire associates feel welcome even before they start and works to ensure they know she’s available to them.

Last fall, Abby began work on her master’s degree at Union with a focus on Human Resources Management. She and her husband now have three fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat) and enjoy adventures together while making their home a castle. Abby’s goal is to continue growing in her Human Resources knowledge and experiences to move into an HR business partner role with Printpack. We are so thankful to have Abby on our Jackson team and fortunate that she walks the talk of servant leadership!

Let’s get to know Abby a little better!

Q. How has Printpack helped you in your career development?

A. Printpack provided me with my first full-time job within my direct area of interest—Human Resources. Since then, I have been able to work under and among so many amazing people who have mentored me and taught me many valuable skills. Every day is a new learning experience – even three years in! I love working with a company that invests in me both through my career and my education so I can continue learning and realizing my full potential.

Q. What do you love most about your job?

A. My favorite part of my job is the people I get to interact with. I love being the first person prospective candidates and new hires meet because I can build relationships with them and show them what Printpack has to offer—personally and in their careers. I also love getting to know people who started their journey with Printpack long before I did, as they have much life experience and advice to offer someone just entering the workforce.

Q. What advice do you have for a prospective Printpack candidate?

A. At Printpack, you can decide to have a “clock in, clock out” job that you work for a while before moving on to something else, or you can create a career here. Once that mindset is shifted, you can grow as far as you’d like and take on new opportunities as they become available. Printpack is an excellent place for those who want to set goals for themselves because we have leaders who will do everything in their power to help you achieve those goals. You get out of this company what you invest in it, and you’ll find family here.
