Printpack and KIND Partner to Launch Curbside Recyclable Paper Bar Wrapper

Date May 13, 2025

Curbside Recyclable Paper Bar Wrapper

ATLANTA, GA – Printpack, a manufacturer of flexible and specialty rigid packaging, in partnership with KIND Snacks, announced the successful launch of a curbside recyclable paper wrapper for snack bars. This collaborative innovation marks a significant milestone in sustainable packaging and demonstrates the power of strategic partnerships in driving environmental change.

The How2Recycle pre-qualified wrapper, developed by Printpack’s technical team in close collaboration with KIND, will debut on KIND’s best-selling Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt bars at select Whole Foods Market locations. The paper wrapper will be available at select Whole Foods Market stores across Northeast, Southern California, and Texas regions from May 1st through October 1st, 2025. This retail pilot represents a significant step forward in addressing the challenge of packaging waste, particularly considering that a significant amount of plastic food and beverage containers currently end up in landfills.

“We know our KIND consumers are looking to make choices that align with their values, and it’s our job to make those choices easier,” says Kerri Clark, VP of Packaging R&D at KIND. “This new, recyclable paper wrapper pilot is a key step toward reaching our ambitious packaging goals without sacrificing quality, and we are so grateful for Printpack’s partnership and expertise on this journey.”

The partnership has already yielded impressive results during initial testing:

  • Successfully achieved curbside recyclability
  • Maintained product freshness and integrity
  • Received positive consumer feedback
  • Demonstrated successful scalability for retail implementation

“Our partnership with KIND exemplifies what’s possible when suppliers and brands align on a shared vision for sustainability,” said David Love, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer at Printpack. “Working with KIND has been instrumental in bringing this innovation to market,” added Love. “Their commitment to sustainability and willingness to pioneer new solutions has helped drive this project forward, resulting in a packaging breakthrough that benefits both consumers and the environment.”

Printpack continues to invest in sustainable packaging solutions and looks forward to expanding this technology to other applications and partners committed to environmental stewardship.
